So Mom and Sis woke up early to attend the 9am Christmas service (with baptism, sister’s fiancé’s baptism to be precise). I was allowed to sleep in. Well, not that I could wake up in time.
Mom was back for lunch. Prepared cold turkey and ham roll sandwiches (the only time one should go cold turkey 🦃).
At lunch she marveled again on how she can hear God’s voice. And again at how she’s getting better,”The last time I was foul mouthed was years ago when…”
I remember that day too. It was before I joined my current company. So that had to be 5-6 years ago.
Seems her memory is a little like her eyesight. Far-sighted.
Tuesday, 15 May 2018. Las Vegas, Nevada.
Well, there was an incident just before we went to Vegas too. Over the renewal of her driving licence. “If you didn’t want **** to help renew my drivers licence just let me know. Though there would be hell to pay…” something to that effect…
And the time before that where I was made to flush the 🚾 with buckets and buckets of water till I sprained my back and was on two day medical leave. I was flat on my back… During the course of those two days, Mother would just walk into my room whenever she felt like giving me a piece of her mind.
To be fair, this never happened when we were growing up… Maybe not never but once every one or two decades. But she was never irrational…
Children and Parents
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—this is the first commandment with a promise: 3 “so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 4 And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
